Almost every national flora divides up the aquatic Ranunculus species differently. The table below attempts to indicate how the various names used correspond to one another. Probably the most authoritive one is Stace, which is based on the molecular work of Sara Webster (as well as the taxanomical work of Chris Cook). The Dutch flora produced in 1995 claims to use modern DNA insights, but unfortunately this has not been applied to the Batrachian Ranunculus species.
